There are many different types of driving under the influence charges in Florida. The type of charges and their penalties will depend on the number of previous DUIs a person has, whether the person caused property damage, whether another person was hurt, and many other factors. While many first-time DUI charges will result in a fine, they can also result in up to six months in jail and a suspended drivers’ license. These penalties increase each time a person is arrested for DUI.

When someone else is hurt or killed because of drunk driving and the penalties are very serious. A popular Miami DJ now faces these penalties after being arrested for drunk driving.

According to police, the 26-year-old DJ was traveling on Southwest Eighth Street in Coral Gables early one morning. His car was driving behind another car carrying two passengers. Police claim that this other car stopped at a red light on the street, but the DJ failed to stop and hit the back of the other car. As a result of this collision, both the driver and the passenger in the other car were killed. The DJ was also seriously injured.

At the hospital, the police arrested the man and charged him with DUI and with two counts of vehicular manslaughter. His bail was set at $15,000.

In this case, the man will face serious fines, prison time, and other consequences unless he fights the charges. In this case, it is unclear why the police believe that the DJ was driving while intoxicated. As part of his defense, the man should ensure that the prosecutors are able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that his blood alcohol content level was more than the legal limit at the time of the accident.
