Actress agrees to large alimony payments in divorce agreement

In Florida and other states, the equality of the sexes is sometimes highlighted by the settlement agreements that are entered into by celebrities and high-income parties. It is no longer always the male who makes the most money of the marital partners. Now, it may be the female who makes considerably more than her male counterpart, and she is sometimes the one who must pay the spousal support or alimony amount in a divorce settlement.

Celebrity divorce agreement is parallel to most typical divorces

The terms of settlement agreements in celebrity divorces are often similar to the thousands of other divorces finalized in Florida and other states throughout the year.  The celebrity settlements will likely involve bigger dollar figures, but the actual terms and remedies incorporated in the agreement may be quite similar across the board. This may be illustrated by the recent celebrity divorce of actress Hilary Duff from former hockey player Mike Comrie.

Co-parenting program is ready for use after a divorce

Researchers at Florida State University recently released an online instructional program that is designed to foster and facilitate cooperative parenting after a divorce. The program reportedly has multimedia and interactive components, and it is intended to assist millions of parents and children who are coping with the effects of adjusting to family life after a divorce. The program is also geared toward single-parent families with children under 18.

Domestic assault charge against Don McClean is set for hearing

Domestic violence charges made by a spouse against the other spouse are often unpredictable in terms of the ultimate case outcome. In some relationships, the cause of the complaint may be a temporary aberration or it may be the symptom of years of domestic assault and violence against the abused victim. In Florida and elsewhere, these cases often are resolved by out-of-court agreements, especially where the parties want to try again and are at the same time willing to engage in substantial anger management efforts, including counseling and rehabilitation services.
