Woman may need help after arrested for DUI 3 times in a week

Unfortunately, drunk driving is something very common here in Florida and throughout the rest of the country. Some people who drive while drunk may have an alcohol problem and may need help. However, sometimes drastic measures are necessary in order to get these drunk drivers off the road and into a rehabilitation treatment program to help them with their problem. Help with an alcohol problem may be something that one woman here in Florida needs after being arrested three times in a week for DUI.

During the first DUI arrest, she posted a $500 bond and was released. Authorities say that it wasn't even 24 hours later when she was once again arrested. She posted the same amount of bond and was released again. She refused a blood test on both occasions.

Then, a couple of days later, she was pulled over and took the blood alcohol test. She was arrested again; however, this time she would need to post a $100,000 to be released from jail. The results from the test have not been released at this time.

In some cases, it may be possible to reach a plea agreement with the prosecution and the judge. While the actual terms of the plea deal vary from situation to situation, the conditions will usually involve probation, a fine and an alcohol education class or alcohol rehabilitation. Some people may even have to have an ignition interlock system installed of their car, which requires a breath test to be conducted prior to being able to drive. As long as the terms of the deal are honored, an individual can often avoid jail time.

Individuals in Florida who have been accused of drinking and driving are afforded certain rights as outlined under the United States Constitution. However, the law can sometimes step over the line. Regardless, it is important that a person accused of DUI be familiar with his or her rights so that he or she can ensure that he or she is protected in the event he or she is ever arrested.
