Registering as a sex offender under SORNA

If a Florida resident is convicted of a sex crime, they may be required to register as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act. This federal law is known as SORNA and allows for federal and state authorities to track sex offenders who have returned to their communities once they have finished any prison time that they may have been sentenced to.

How prostitution relates to sex crimes

Like most other states in the nation, it is illegal to engage in prostitution in the state of Florida. Prostitution involves one party offering money for services and another party providing or agreeing to provide services of a sexual nature. In most cases, it does not matter whether or not services are actually provided. Those who provide services, those who arrange services and those who solicit services may be partaking in criminal activity.

Man driving the wrong way taken into custody

A vehicle driven by a 48-year-old man was stopped by Florida police after it was spotted going the wrong way on Jan. 5. A trooper noticed the man's silver Dodge pickup going northbound in the southbound lane of Route 19. The vehicle was pulled over near Marine Parkway, and the trooper was almost hit as attempted to make the traffic stop.
