Florida businessman facing DUI charges after speeding

Stressful times can sometimes lead to further mistakes by Florida residents. People face a lot of pressure in today's society, and may turn to alcohol to temporarily relieve their stress. While social drinking can be a good way to let off some steam, it can lead to criminal charges if people make the mistake of getting behind the wheel of a car.

Just months after a Florida business man has been accused of defrauding and misleading investors, the 55-year-old's legal troubles are multiplying. According to reports, the man has been arrested on charges of driving under the influence.

Police claim that they pulled the man's car over after he was seen driving 64 miles-per-hour in a 45 mph zone. During the traffic stop, police allege that the man smelled of alcohol and had difficulty speaking. As a result, the police conducted a breath test and a field sobriety test. According to police, the man failed both of these blood alcohol tests. In fact, police say that his breath test showed that the man had a blood alcohol content level of .131 percent which is above the legal limit of .08 percent. Finally, police say the man admitted to drinking but was unsure of how much he had consumed.

DUI charges often follow a simple mistake that any driver can make. This mistake, unfortunately, can come with significant penalties including fines, drivers' license suspension, jail or prison time and other social and economic consequences. However, if handled correctly from the beginning of the case, penalties for DUI charges can reduced or eliminated. By challenging police conduct and other evidence, people can see this mistake as just a bump in the road.
