Broward County man charged with fraud charges

Felony charges come with very serious consequences. People who are found guilty of a felony can be sentenced to more than a year in prison and be left with a criminal record. This criminal record may make it difficult for people to live where they want or find employment. Furthermore, being a convicted felon can make it illegal to vote or own a firearm. Because of this, Floridians who are facing a felony charge owe it to themselves to explore all their criminal defense options.

One Broward County man has recently been charged with a felony. The man is accused of accepting kickbacks in exchange for authorizing people to receive public assistance. According to police, the man worked for an agency between August 2011 and April 2013 that approved people for public child care assistance. Authorities claim that during his employment, this man accepted kick backs of up to $600 to approve unqualified families instead of families who were actually qualified. During this time, investigators claim that he misappropriated more than $75,000 in public funds. Furthermore, he is accused of making $2,800 in the process.

As a result, the man has been charged with a first-degree felony -- organized scheme to defraud. If he is found guilty the man could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison.

This man will now want to explore all his criminal defense options. In some cases, it may be best to negotiate with the prosecutors and agree to a plea deal. However, that is not a person's only option and may not be best solution in every situation. While allegations of felony charges are serious, with the right help people can overcome these charges.
