Police arrest felony lane gang members from Fort Lauderdale

Recently south Florida police have been cracking down on a group known as the "felony lane" gang. According to police, the felony lane gang is a group of loosely affiliated groups from Fort Lauderdale that have been accused of traveling to commit crimes.

Police say that these groups tend to travel to other parts of the state then burglarize local establishments close to highways. They then use the main roads to make their escape. Police accuse these people of many different felonies including burglary, identity theft and bank fraud. Many of these crimes are aimed at getting personal information to be used in identity theft crimes.

In a recent incident three suspected felony lane gang members were arrested following an incident in a gym more than 200 miles north of Broward County. According to police, members at a local gym noticed that their cars were being broken into. Police claim that they caught the three men, ranging from age 33 to 19-years-old, as they were driving away. They have each been charged with petty theft, burglary and criminal mischief.

In cases like this one where police arrest multiple individuals in a criminal organization or scheme, the police may try to pit the individuals against each other to gain more information about the group. People in this situation need to be particularly careful about their criminal defense strategy. In some cases, police may try to aggressively prosecute some of the members while offering others deals for information. Therefore, those charged with felonies as part of a larger group need to ensure their interests are protected throughout the entire process.
